100 Women DBA Scholarship Program
The 100 WOMEN DBA awards scholarships annually to provide a financial boost to five young women of color graduating from Hancock high schools, there are three $1500 scholarships and two $500 scholarships in memory of Elena Marie Lorenza Lucore. The scholarships are intended to fill a gap as young women of color historically have been disproportionately shut out of generational wealth. The scholarship targets young women who might not have access to full scholarships or family resources for their college education.
Students are asked to fill out an application online (link will be here when next season begins). The 100 WOMEN DBA scholarship committee evaluates each application based on a quantitative as well as qualitative basis. The winners will be announced during each school year’s award ceremony. The deadline for the application is the last day of February of the scholarship year.
The scholarship funds are raised through raffles at 100 Men Hall events, via donations, and through events specifically intended to raise money for the scholarships.
In addition, the organization provides mentorship to the students and at times internships as needed.
